The role of the International Editor is critical in maintaining the journal’s academic quality and reputation.
Appointment Criteria
Candidates for the position of International Editor must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Qualifications:
- Possession of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant discipline.
- Active engagement in teaching, research, or academic administration at a recognized institution.
- Research & Publication Experience:
- A strong record of publications in reputed national and/or international peer-reviewed journals.
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas aligned with the journal’s scope.
- Scholarly Reputation:
- Recognition within the academic or research community at an international level.
- Experience as a reviewer, editor, or advisory member of academic journals is preferred.
- Ethical & Professional Standards:
- Commitment to upholding publication ethics, research integrity, and confidentiality.
- No history of academic misconduct or ethical violations.
- Willingness to Contribute:
- Ability to dedicate reasonable time to editorial duties, including manuscript reviews and policy advice.
- Willingness to support the journal’s mission and outreach efforts globally.
Responsibilities of International Editors
International Editors play a key role in ensuring the quality and credibility of WJCRT’s publications. Their responsibilities include:
- Editorial Guidance and Academic Support:
- Provide expert editorial guidance and support for the journal, helping shape its academic direction.
- Offer feedback on submitted manuscripts and assist with decisions regarding publication.
- Reviewing Manuscripts:
- Review manuscripts or recommend qualified peer reviewers from their area of expertise.
- Ensure the academic quality and integrity of the manuscripts submitted for publication.
- Advising on Editorial Policies and Scope:
- Advise the editorial board on expanding or refining the journal’s scope and editorial policies.
- Help identify emerging trends and interdisciplinary areas for the journal to explore.
- Promoting the Journal Internationally:
- Promote WJCRT within international academic and research networks.
- Encourage high-quality manuscript submissions from researchers across different geographical regions.
- Ensuring Fair and Objective Review:
- Ensure that the peer review process is fair, transparent, and objective.
- Ensure that there is no discrimination based on gender, race, nationality, institutional affiliation, or political beliefs.
- Ethical Publishing and Conflict of Interest:
- Support ethical publishing practices and assist in resolving any conflicts of interest that may arise.
- Report any ethical concerns or misconduct encountered during the review process.
- Contributing to Special Issues and Thematic Sections:
- Assist in the creation of special issues or thematic sections based on current trends and research in their field.
- Promoting Academic Collaboration:
- Facilitate academic collaboration and interdisciplinary research by bringing together experts from different fields.
- Encourage submissions that integrate creative and innovative perspectives from diverse disciplines.
Term & Nature of Appointment
- The appointment of International Editors is honorary and academic in nature.
- The term of appointment typically lasts 2 to 3 years, subject to renewal based on performance and mutual consent.
- No financial remuneration is provided, unless otherwise explicitly stated by the journal.
Conflict of Interest
- International Editors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest related to manuscript evaluation or editorial decisions.
- Editors are expected to recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest.
Termination of Appointment
The appointment of an International Editor may be terminated by the journal for the following reasons:
- Proven ethical misconduct or breach of confidentiality.
- Failure to perform assigned editorial responsibilities in a timely and effective manner.
- Actions that are detrimental to the reputation of the journal.
